By selecting custom heritage joinery for your historic or listed building you’re ensuring authenticity with the original features. It’s commonplace that off-the-shelf items just don’t cut- it with such properties. Bespoke is your only option to preserve the character and significance that you, or conservation officers would desire or expect.
The design itself can be copied accurately when you opt for custom heritage joinery. In other words, a design that’s identical, or very much in keeping with what was or is there already. The right mouldings, construction, shape, etc
The timber your product is made from could also be matched to that of the original. The finish, ie the stain, wax, paint colour, timber colour or general appearance could be matched.
Where there’s ironmongery involved, some of the original items may be reusable. For any replacement parts, it is highly likely that the same, or very similar items can be sourced.
Current regulations and the listing of your building should there be one are often an issue. By choosing custom heritage joinery the regulations can be adhered to and so you won’t have problems further down the line, say if you come to selling your property. This can work both ways round.
a) You make sure what you fit would be acceptable to the conservation officer. But also…
b) Say fire regulation need to be complied with, you can achieve that too, but at the same time in an acceptable way, to be in-keeping and look right with your building. An example might be fire doors are needed to meet those regulations, but they need to look like the originals, or be similar proportions, widths, etc This is something our joinery workshop in Somerset can provide.
Of course, it could be that there are options to improve the functionality and say thermal performance of the building, whist maintaining the correct aesthetics. Custom heritage joinery allows that, if you have the relevant permission, of course. By using bespoke heritage joinery, you have total freedom to weave the modern with the classic, blend the two in an appropriate, but functional modern, practical way.
From our manufacturing base we can provide both precisely matching timber joinery in Somerset, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire and way beyond, or alternatively customise any joinery items to your exact requirements.
